BOSTON, Mass. – Latifa Ali won the 400m dash and helped the 4x400m Relay to a third-place finish at Boston University's Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
A senior from Kumasi, Ghana, Ali clocked an indoor personal-record 53.50 to win the 400m dash. Ali's time is tops in the MEAC and the second-fastest in CSU history while ranking 26
th in NCAA Division I this season. In the 4x400m Relay, Ali ran the opening leg and was followed by
Shenelle Tomlinson,
Destinee Mcloud and
Jahmei Wyatt to a time of 3:42.65 which is the second-fastest in the MEAC this season.
Tomlinson took fourth in the 400m dash with an indoor personal-record time of 54.36 which ranks third in CSU history and third in the MEAC this season. Mcloud (58.24),
Kaelyn Woodrum (59.15),
Brianna Benton (1:00.18) and
Angel Davis (1:02.67) also competed in the open 400.
Mcloud and Woodrum had very busy days as Mcloud also clocked a 25.84 in the 200m dash, just behind Woodrum's 25.81 who also clocked a 9.09 in the 60m hurdles with
Erin Palmer (9.64) just after.
Wyatt shaved a few tenths off her MEAC-leading personal-record in the 800m Run with a time of 2:11.52
In the short sprints,
Halutie Hor finished the 60m dash in 7.71, followed by
Gifty Oku in 7.84.
Salomay Agyei finished the 500m dash in 1:18.31. Agyei led off the 4x400m 'B' Relay to a time of 4:00.85 along with Benton, Woodrum and Davis.
Davis also competed in the 200m dash (26.87) while
Saidai Stuteley finished the 3,000m Run in 11:40.70.
The Eagles are back on the track on February 19-21 for the MEAC Indoor Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
