BOSTON, Mass. – Coppin State's
Latifa Ali won the 400m dash in school-record time as the Eagles sent select athletes to the Last Chance Indoor National Qualifier at Boston University Track & Tennis Center on Sunday.
A senior from Kumasi, Ghana, Ali clocked a 52.60 to win the 400m dash which is the best time ever recorded by a CSU sprinter either indoors or outdoors. Ali's time is tops in the MEAC this season, ranks 28
th nationally and unofficially breaks the Ghanaian indoor record.
In the same race,
Shenelle Tomlinson finished third overall in a personal-record 53.94 which now ranks third in school-history behind Ali and Melissa Caddle-Hope.
Destinee Mcloud also finished in 57.18 to set a PR.
In the 800m Run,
Jahmei Wyatt also set a PR with a time of 2:11.13, which is also tops in the MEAC.
On the men's side,
Amadou Ba's performance in the 800m was the highlight as he shattered his own PR by clocking a 1:50.84.
Jayeed Norbal finished just behind in 1:54.45, also a personal-best.
Noxroy Wright finished fourth in the 60m dash in 6.90 and followed up with a fifth-place effort in the 200m dash in 21.32.
Rashaun Stewart clocked a PR, 48.44 in the 400m dash to finish 10
th overall.
