Oku Wins 200m Dash, Takes Second in 60m Dash at Fastrack National Qualifier

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Gifty Oku won the 200m dash and took second in the 60m dash to lead the Coppin State women's track & field team competed at the Fastrack National Qualifier on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Facility.
 
A sophomore from Ghana, Oku clocked a 24.87 to cruise to gold in the 200m dash.  Oku also ran a 7.69 in the 60m dash to take the silver.  Both of her times rank seventh in the MEAC this season.
 
Kaelyn Woodrum began her preparation for the multis at the MEAC Championships, taking fourth in the 60m hurdles (9.11) while running a 2:38.66 in the 800m Run and leaping 13' 10.5" in the long jump.
 
Shenelle Tomlinson and Salomay Agyei both finished in the top ten in their individual events with Tomlinson taking sixth in the 800m Run (2:18.58). Agyei placed ninth in the 400m dash in 58.62.
 
Brianna Benton and Erin Palmer also doubled up in open events, with Benton finishing the 200m and 400m dash in 26.52 and 59.81, respectively. Palmer finished the 60m hurdles in 9.53 before finishing the 200m dash in 27.58.
 
Angel Davis also clocked a 1:02.72 in the 400m dash.
 
The Eagles return to the track on February 19-21 for the MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
