STATEN ISLAND, N.Y – Kaelyn Woodrum and
Kimani Alphonse ran a personal record times in their respective events, leading the Coppin State women's track & field team at the Youree Spence-Garcia Meet, hosted by St. John's University at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Saturday.
Woodrum clocked a personal-record 8.85 in the 60m hurdles to take second overall while Alphonse took fifth in the 60m dash in 7.82 to highlight the afternoon. Woodrum had a busy day, taking fifth in the 200m (25.96) while traveling 16' 7" in the long jump.
Benidicta Kwartemaa was impressive in her collegiate debut, clocking a 7.91 in the 60m dash.
Erin Palmer doubled up in the 60m hurdles (8.99) and 200m (26.11) while
Serena Harrison competed in the 60m dash (8.19) and long jump (15' 9.5").
Also competing for the Eagles were
Angel Davis in the 400m (1:08.51),
Brianna Benton in the 500m (1:19.28) and
Raniya Perry in the shot put (28' 11").
The Eagles will have a month away from competition before racing at the HBCU Showcase in New York, N.Y., on January 13.
