NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Camaren Sparrow has been named the MEAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Friday afternoon. This is the first weekly award of Sparrow's career.
A freshman from Baltimore, Md., Sparrow averaged 9.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals at the Miami Classic last week. Sparrow put up seven points with a pair of rebounds against the host Redhawks before leading the Eagles with a season-high 12 points and five rebounds while adding two steals the following day against Eastern Illinois.
Sparrow is averaging 6.3 points and 3.0 rebounds while leading CSU with ten steals in six games. He is the only player to have started in every game this season.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday, November 26 when they travel to Philadelphia to play La Salle in a 1 pm tipoff on ESPN+
