Box Score College Park, MD: Megan Etienne won three games at second singles to lead the Eagles while University of South Dakota transfer India Ampaw made her Coppin debut. The Eagles lost to University of Maryland 4-0 on Sunday, January 22nd at the Junior Tennis Champions Center.
At first doubles, the Eagles duo of Mackenzie Jones and Keyange Kaounde matched up against Marta Parez Mur and Minorka Miranda for a loss at 6-0. In second doubles, Megan Etienne and Empress Johnson took on Jojo Bach and Hannah McColgan but dropped, 6-0.
In an intense second singles match, Etienne won three games total games against Kallista Liu. After leading Liu in the second set, the match was deemed unfinished.
India Ampaw played third singles against McColgan. Ampaw dropped the first set 6-0. Trailing the second set 1-0, Ampaw won four straight rallies in game two before the match want unfinished.
In singles play, Jones matched up against Miranda in first singles for a 6-0 loss in both sets. Johnson lost to Brumfield at number four singles with a score of 6-0 in the first and 5-0 in the second. Kaounde saw action in fifth singles in a two set loss to Bach.
