BALTIMORE – Latifa Ali, Kimani Alphonse and
Kaelyn Woodrum won individual events and the 4x100m Relay also took gold as the Coppin State women's track & field team competed at the Morgan State Legacy on Saturday afternoon.
Ali took the 100m dash in 11.59, just missing her own school-record in the event, while also taking second in the 200m dash in 23.55. Alphonse won the 400m dash in 54.21 and joined Ali as well as
Shenelle Tomlinson and
Salomay Agyei on the victorious 4x400m Relay in 3:40.96.
Tomlinson and Agyei also were impressive in their individual events with Tomlinson taking second to Alphonse in the 400m dash in 55.80 while Agyei placed fifth in 57.22.
Woodrum took the 400m hurdles in 1:04.57 and clocked a 15.26 in the 100m hurdles. She closed out the day as part of the Eagles' 4x400m 'B' Relay team that took second in 3:53.80 with
Destinee Mcleod,
Halutie Hor and
Kamillah Monroque.
Mcleod took the silver in the 400m hurdles in 1:05.27 while Hor doubled up in the 100m and 200m dash, placing fourth and fifth, respectively, in 11.83 and 24.13.
Also medaling on the day was
Saidai Stuteley who took third in the 3,000m Steeplechase in 12:09.67 while
Kamillah Monroque put together a solid 2:17.72 in the 800m Run.
Other notable performances were turned in by
Angel Davis in the 400m dash (1:00.84) and both
Erin Palmer (15.80) and
Olivia Wright (16.37) in the 100m hurdles.
The Eagles will compete at the Penn Relays on April 28-30, held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
