NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Latifa Ali took second in the 100m dash, third in the 200m dash and led the 4x400m Relay to gold on Saturday afternoon at the Norfolk State Invitational.
A native of Kumasi, Ghana, Ali clocked a 11.68 to take silver in the 100m dash before earning the bronze in the 200m dash in 23.64. Ali joined
Kimani Alphonse,
Cathryn Lane and
Shenelle Tomlinson to win the 4x400m Relay in a season-best 3:39.00.
Tomlinson also medaled with a third-place finish in the 400m dash in 54.95 with
Salomay Agyei (57.09) and
Destinee Mcleod (57.57) finishing just behind.
Halutie Hor, along with Ali, doubled up in the short sprints, taking fourth in the 100m dash (11.85) and seventh in the 200m dash (24.31). Hor also ran a leg on Coppin's 'B' 4x400m Relay that took fifth in 3:57.12 along with Agyei, Mcleod and
Kamillah Monroque.
Mcleod also ran in the 200m dash with a time of 25.32.
The Eagles will next compete in the Morgan State Legacy meet on April 22-23.
