Baltimore, MD- With long rallies played and a win at first doubles and first singles, the Eagles dropped to Morgan 4-1 on Saturday, April16 in the final home match of the season.
The Eagles first doubles duo of Iva Jankovic and Megan Etienne defeated Nolan Cardoso and Asmara Rose for a score of 6-4. After splitting even in the first four games, the Bears duo took a 3-2 lead before the pairs evened out at 4-4. The Eagles duo went on a two game run and sealed the win.
At number two doubles, Lucia Placidi and Kristina Georgieva paired up against Averiana Mitchell and Stefania Moysaidi where they won three games for a 6-3 match loss.
At number three doubles, Christy Turner and Mackenzie Jones faced off Anabel Aran and Hannah Smith, where they totalled three games won for a match loss at 6-3
Yankovic upset Averiana Mitchell in a two set match. After trailing 4-3 in the first set, Jankovic won two games to reverse the lead at 5-4. Mitchell tied at at 5-5 before Jankovic made another two game run for a 7-5 win of the first set. In the second set, Jankovic contained Mitchell to a one game win and dominated the set 6-1 for a match victory.
Georgieva played at number two singles against Smith in heated rallies. In the first set, Georgieva won in duce to tie at 3-3. Smitch won the next two games to take a 5-3 lead. In Gergieva's attempt to make a comeback to break the run at 5-4, Smith snuck away with a win at 6-4 in the first. Georgieva won two games to drop the second set.
Etienne won four games in the first set of her match at fifth singles against Rose before the match was stopped by rain.
Placidi and Turner grabbed a pair of wins each at number three and number four singles as well as Jones at number six singles before her match was deemed unfinished due to rain.
Up Next: The Eagles will play their last match of the season at Loyola on Thursday, April 21 before traveling to the MEAC Tournament April 27-30 in Cary, North Carolina.
