Box Score Philadelphia, PA.- Coppin State's women's tennis team crushed it in doubles play outscorring St. Josephs winning 14 games to the Hawks 10 in doubles matches. Despite a singles victory for Megan Etienne, the Eagles were overpowered in singles matches for a 5-2 loss on Monday.
The doubles victories started with the Coppin duo of Lucia Placidi and Kristina Georgieva at number two doubles against Emily Elliot and Anna Kirk. The eagles duo doubled the games won from the hawks duo for a 6-3 match win.
In third doubles, Christy Turner and Mackenzie Jones defeated Fabiana Tort-Umpierra and Ana Ocasio with a whopping score of 6-1.
Etienne and Iva Jankovic grabbed a pair of wins at number one doubles for a loss at 6-2.
In singles, Etienne defeated Alex Kramer at number four singles in a consistent two set match. Etienne won both sets with a mirroring 6-2.
Georgieva endured a long three set match against Elliot in second singles. After winning the first set at 7-5, she dropped the second set 6-4 before losing the tiebreaker.
Markovic fought hard at number one singles against Amanda Nova. After dropping a close first set 7-6, she won three games for a loss in the second set.
Turner won six games in a two set loss at fourth singles while Placidi totalled five games won in a two set loss at number three singles.
Jones won a game in sixth singles but dropped to Paige Conrad.
