Women's Tennis took defeat to George Mason on Saturday

Fairfax, Va. -- The Coppin State women's tennis team lost against George Mason on Sunday with a score of 7-0  at the George Mason Tennis Complex. 
 
In doubles play Lucia Placidi and Christy Turner won three games at NO. 2 doubles against Savannah Crowell and Franchesca, in a 6-3 loss.  Iva Jankovic and Megan Etienne played first singles against Grace Hashiguchi and Jackie Nannery in a 6-1 loss.  

Turner and Yankovic won seven games apiece in their singles matches. Turner kept the first set close with a score of 7-5 against Crowell, and dropped 6-2 in the second set. In first singles, after trailing 6-3 in the first set Yankovic made a second set run to win four games against Paige La.  

Mackenzie Jones totalled five wins in a two set match against Lauren Splett in fifth singles. 

Placidi faced Fitz-Patrick in No. 2 singles, with a score of 6-1 in the frist set and 6-2 in the second set.  Etienne won a game against Jackie Nannery in No.4 singles.  
 

Up Next: Coppin will host Delaware State on March 12 for their first MEAC conference matchup of the season.
