BOSTON, Mass. – Coppin State's women's track & field team set a school-record in the 4x400m Relay at the Boston University Scarlet & White Invitational on Saturday as the Eagles sent squads to both Boston and Virginia Beach for the East Coast Invitational.

The combination of Cathryn Lane, Latifa Ali, Kimani Alphonse and Shenelle Tomlinson clocked a 3:41.04 in the Relay to finish second overall but was the top collegiate team.  Coppin's time broke the school's old record by over three full seconds that stood for over nine years and stands second in the MEAC.

All four competitors on the 4x400m Relay also impressed in their open events with Ali clocking a 54.55 in the 400m dash to lead a trio of Eagles in the event.  Ali was the top collegiate runner in the event, taking third overall, and her mark was the second-fastest in school-history. Alphonse took fourth overall in 55.30, which is the fourth-fastest at CSU, and Tomlinson was just behind in fifth at 55.55.

Lane also doubled up in the 60m dash (7.87) and 200m dash (25.57), with Angel Davis finishing the latter in 26.27.

Four Eagles also ran in the 800m Run with Jahmei Wyatt and Kamillah Monroque coming in at 2:13.16 and 2:13.26, respectively.  These times are good for third and fourth in CSU history.  Salomay Agyei also finished in 2:19.79, followed by Claudina Constantine in 2:23.46.

In Virginia Beach, Kaelyn Woodrum looks to be preparing for a pentathlon or heptathlon as she ran in three individual events while also taking part in the long jump.  Placing tenth in the long jump at 5.41m, Woodrum finished the 60m dash in 8.15, the 60m hurdles in 9.40 and 200m dash in 26.24.  Erin Palmer also competed in all three sprints, clocking an 8.29 in the 60m dash, 9.43 in the 60m hurdles and 26.26 in the 200m dash.

Olivia Wright also took tenth in the triple jump, leaping 10.86m.

CSU closes out the indoor portion of its schedule at the Kenneth Giles NSU Invitational on February 11 before the MEAC Championships on February 21-23 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. The top 16 student-athletes nationally in individual events, and top 12 relays, will qualify for the NCAA National Championships in Birmingham, Ala., on March 11-12.
