Ali Wins 60m Dash, Bronze in 200m Dash, 4x4 Victorious at Kenneth Giles NSU Invitational

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Latifa Ali won gold in the 60m dash and took bronze in the 200m dash to lead the Coppin State women's track & field team at the Kenneth Giles NSU Invitational on Saturday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.  The Invitational was the final tune-up before next week's MEAC Championships.
 
Ali clocked the fastest time in the MEAC in the 60m dash with times of 7.43 in the 60m and 23.88 in the 200m dash.  A junior from Kumasi, Ghana, Ali ran a 7.53 in the prelims of the 60, followed by her season-best 7.43 in the semis before taking the crown with a 7.45.  Ali's time of 23.88 was just .14 off the first-place finisher.
 
The 4x400m Relay team of Salomay Agyei, Jahmei Wyatt, Claudina Constantine and Kamillah Monroque also took first on the day, clocking a 3:49.89. The combo also ran extremely well in their open events, with Constantine and Agyei taking fifth and sixth, respectively in the 800m Run in times of 2:22.60 and 2:22.69. Monroque took sixth in the Mile in 5:18.23 with Wyatt falling behind in 5:37.58.
 
Cathryn Lane also medaled in the 400m, taking bronze in 58.21 while Saidai Stuteley debuted with a 11:45.87 in the 3,000m, taking fourth overall.
 
Shenelle Tomlinson and Kaelyn Woodrum led multiple Eagles in their open races with a pair of tenth place performances.  Tomlinson finished the 200m in 24.93 while Woodrum clocked an 8.99 to lead a trio of CSU athletes in the 60m hurdles. Woodrum also leaped 16-8.75 in the long jump.
 
Serena Harrison made her collegiate debut, doubling in the 60m dash (8.15) and 200m dash (26.61). Erin Palmer and Olivia Wright also went 9.30 and 9.97 in the hurdles while Wright also traveled 35-6.50 in the triple jump.  Palmer also clocked a 26.78 in the 200m dash, just behind Angel Davis' 26.62.
