Sam Sessoms Named MEAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Fourth-Straight Time

NORFOLK, Va. – For the fourth time in as many weeks, Coppin State's Sam Sessoms has been named the MEAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.  Sessoms averaged 28.5 points, 5.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 22-of-33 (66.7%) from the floor in a pair of games last week.
 
A senior from Philadelphia, Pa., Sessoms tallied 22 points, seven assists and five rebounds while making 7-of-11 shots from the floor at UMBC. Sessoms followed up with a season-high 35 points while hitting a career-high 15-of-22 shots from the floor at Loyola University Maryland.  He also dished out four assists against the Greyhounds and hit the game-winner with 1.5 seconds left in the game.
 
Sessoms currently leads the Nation in total points (239) and field goals (90) while ranking second with 23.9 points per game.  His 57 assists are the sixth-most in NCAA Division 1 while ranking 25th with 5.7 assists per game.  Sessoms also ranks among the Nation's best in field goal percentage, shooting at a 53.6 percent clip.
 
With 1,946 career points, Sessoms ranks seventh among active NCAA Division I players.  Sessoms ranks fourth among active players with 739 field goals and ranks third in points among players with 1,500 career points and 350 assists.
 
Coppin State (4-6) is in action on Tuesday, December 6 when it faces North Carolina State in a 7 pm tipoff on ACC Network.
