NORFOLK, Va. – Make it six-straight for Coppin State's
Sam Sessoms as he has once again been named the MEAC Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. Sessoms shares the award this week with Norfolk State's Joe Bryant.
A redshirt senior from Philadelphia, Pa., Sessoms scored a team-high 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting at George Washington University last week. It was the tenth time this season that Sessoms went over the 20-point mark in a single game, and the 40
th time of his career.
Sessoms also scored his 2,000
th career point in the matchup against the Colonials and now has 2,015 career points to rank seventh among NCAA Division I active players. He also ranks fourth among active players in career field goals made (766) and has 464 career assists.
For the season, Sessoms leads the Nation in total points (308) and field goals (117) while ranking fourth in points per game (23.7), tenth in total assists (73) and 25
th in assists per game (5.6). Sessoms is also shooting an impressive 53.9% from the floor and 40.5% from three-point range.
Coppin State (4-9) hosts James Madison on Wednesday, December 21 in a 11 am tipoff at PEC Arena.
