Sam Sessoms Wins Third-Straight MEAC Player of the Week Award

NORFOLK, Va. – For the third-straight week to open the season, Coppin State's Sam Sessoms has been named the MEAC Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
A redshirt senior from Philadelphia, Pa., Sessoms averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds on 51.4% shooting in a pair of games for the Eagles last week.  In Tuesday's game at Towson, Sessoms recorded 19 points and five assists before going off for a season and game-high 28 points with six assists, six rebounds and three steals at #23 Maryland.
 
Sessoms currently ranks first nationally in total points (182) and total field goals (68) while ranking third in NCAA Division I with 22.8 points per game.  He also leads the MEAC and ranks among the Nation's leaders with 5.8 assists per game. Sessoms is also shooting at an impressive 50.4% clip despite taking the second-most field goal attempts in the Country.
 
Coppin (3-5) closes its local road trip swing this week with matchups at UMBC on November 30 at 7 pm, and Loyola Maryland on December 3 at 5 pm. Both games will air on ESPN+.
