Kimani Alphonse Named MEAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's Kimani Alphonse was named the MEAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.  This is the first weekly honor of Alphonse's collegiate career.
 
Alphonse blew out her heat of 400m dash at the HBCU Showcase over the weekend, winning gold in an indoor personal-record time of 56.60.  A junior from Laborie, St. Lucia, Alphonse also ran a leg of the 4x400m Relay that took second place in 3:51.15.  Both her 400m dash and Coppin's 4x400m Relay are currently ranked second in the MEAC this season.
 
The Eagles return to the track on January 21-22 for the Carolina Challenge, hosted by the University of South Carolina.
