BALTIMORE, Md. – Tyree Corbett from the Coppin State men's basketball team was named MEAC Player and Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning. This is the fifth time this season Corbett has earned Defensive Player and first-time earning Player.
A redshirt junior from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Corbett scored a season high-tying 23 points in the Eagles' 74-65 win over South Carolina State on Saturday in the conference opener for both teams. Defensively, Corbett grabbed a season-best 22 rebounds in 33 minutes of play to record his seventh double-double of the season.
He is the first CSU player to go for 20-20 this century.
Corbett and the Eagles are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 15 to play local MEAC foe Morgan State. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
