BALTIMORE – Coppin State's volleyball team opens MEAC play on the road this weekend when it travels to South Carolina State on Friday night, followed by N.C. Central on Sunday afternoon. Sunday's Battle of the Eagles in Durham will feature a live video stream as well as live stats.

Coppin (6-6) is coming off one of its best showings of the season as it defeated defending America East Champion and local rival UMBC in four sets on Monday night.
Miajavon Coleman and
Paola Caten notched double-doubles with Coleman going for a season-high 21 kills while matching a career-high with 16 digs. Caten added 14 kills with 11 digs and was followed by
Jordan Celestine and
Ahzhi Coleman with eight kills apiece.
Andrea Tsvetanova returned to the lineup at setter and tallied 44 assists with 12 digs along with three aces.
Ashley Roman led all players with 23 digs while Celestine was credited with four blocks.

A trio of Eagles lead the MEAC in their respective categories with
Miajavon Coleman topping the list in kills/set (3.70),
Andrea Tsvetanova in assists/set (8.59) and
Ashley Roman in digs/set (5.30). Caten is also among the conference leaders at fifth in kills/set (2.90) while Coleman sits eighth in digs/set (3.32). Tsvetanova is also sitting seventh in aces/set (0.44).
Ahzhi Coleman is having a superb freshman campaign, ranking 10
th in the league with a .236 hitting percentage and is second on the Eagles in blocks (24) while
Jordan Celestine leads the way with 42, placing fourth in the MEAC.

Miajavon Coleman is closing in on the CSU all-time record for kills with 1,175 in her career to rank third in school-history. She is also nearing the top-ten in both digs and blocks.
Jordan Celestine's 208 career blocks rank fourth all-time, just behind former teammate
Christa Johnson's 231.
Ashley Roman is one of the Nation's leaders in digs and her 1,048 career digs is fourth in CSU history. The school-record holder in career digs/set, Roman is closing in on both
Andrea McGant (1,088) and
Glorines Rosado (1,085) on the Eagles' all-time list.
Scouting South Carolina State
Maria Vedovatto leads the Bulldogs with 54 kills, followed by Gabrielle Wells (25) and Maya Rebert (11) in the category. Kayleigh Sullivan and Kendal Rivera have split time at setter while Vedovatto, Rivera and Chelsea Cole top the squad in digs. Maya McCord, Rembert and Vedovatto are the top threats at the net on defense.
NC Central at a Glance
Arlanda Faulkner and Ammaarah Williams are NC Central's top offensive threats at over two kills per set while Abby Vacha is just under two kills per set. Celene Morris is one of the Eagles' top passers and also averages 1.33 kills per set while McKayla Young and Lauren Janok will also need Coppin's attention. Janok averages 7.70 assists per set and has a team-high 11 service aces. Morris is second on the squad with 3.33 digs/set to Alyssa Pieh's 4.17 digs. Williams was a Preseason All-MEAC selection and leads the team with 29 blocks, followed by Janok (24) and Young (23).
