NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Sebastien Sarabia was named the MEAC Baseball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the first weekly honor of Sarabia's career.
A freshman from Simi Valley, Calif., Sarabia hit .500 (5-for-10) in three games for the Eagles, including a pair of two-hit games, scoring four times, racking up four RBIs and drawing three walks. Sarabia had two hits and his first career home run, driving in three runs in Friday's game at Mount St. Mary's. He was also 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. Sarabia closed the series with a hit and a walk on Sunday.
Sarabia is currently hitting .292 with five runs, a home run and five RBI in seven games this season. Sarabia has also drawn six walks and has a .433 on-base percentage and .417 slugging percentage.
The Eagles are set to play at George Washington University on Wednesday, March 10 in a 3 pm start at Barcroft Park in Arlington, Va.
