Box Score DOVER, Del. – Coppin State's women's tennis team dropped its MEAC opener at Delaware State, 7-0 on Thursday afternoon at DSU Tennis Courts.
The Eagles top duo of
Iva Jankovic and
Christy Turner fought to a 6-3 defeat at No. 1 doubles while
Shariah Dunwell/
Afruica Gentle fell, 6-2 in the second position.
Turner and Gentle took their opponents to the brink in their singles matches at the second and third flights. Turner was defeated, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles while Gentle fell, 6-4, 6-3.
Tinashe Gwaze was able to win five games in her loss in the sixth singles spot and
Mackenzie Jones managed a pair of games at No. 5 singles.
CSU returns to the courts on March 10 when it travels to take on Virginia Tech.
