VIRGINIA BEACH – Alanna Newby won the shot put with a toss of 43' 3.25" to lead the Coppin State women's track & field team at the second day of the Kenneth Giles NSU Invitational on Saturday at Virginia Beach Sports Center. This was the final indoor meet for the Eagles with the NCAA National Championships scheduled for March 11-13 in Fayetteville, Ark.
Latifa Ali also medaled for Coppin, taking third in the 200m dash in 24.10 while
Cathryn Lane and
Shenelle Tomlinson placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the event in times of 25.29 and 25.33.
Kamillah Monroque also finished sixth in the 800m, clocking a 2:16.17.
