Coppin State No. 3 Seed

NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's volleyball team has earned the No.3 seed in the MEAC Volleyball Tournament on November 19-21, being held in Burr Gymnasium on the campus of Howard University. The conference announced the pairings this afternoon.

Coppin State and North Carolina Central were tied for third in the standings at 9-5 but since the Eagles were preseason favorites, they won the tiebreaker to take the No. 3 seed. Coppin will play at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 against No. 6 Norfolk State (4-10).

Delaware State and Howard are MEAC regular-season co-champions after both programs went 12-2 in conference play, but the Bison won the tiebreaker to claim the tournament's No. 1 seed. The Bison will open at 11 a.m. on Friday in the quarterfinal round against No. 8 South Carolina State (0-14), while the Hornets, as the No. 2 seed, will face No. 7 Morgan State (3-11) at 5 p.m.
NCCU, as the No. 4 seed, will take on No. 5 Maryland Eastern Shore (7-7) at 2 p.m.

Saturday's semifinal round will begin with the first match at 5 p.m.

Sunday's championship match will be at 8 p.m., live on ESPNU. The winner of that match will earn the MEAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Volleyball Championship. Howard has won five of the last six MEAC volleyball championships, running a streak of five in a row from 2014-19.

Fans can purchase a weekend pass for $25, or $10 per day. Tickets are available at www.bisontickets.com, and fans can also purchase tickets at the Burr Gymnasium box office during the event. All on-site sales will be done via credit card only.
