NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
DeJuan Clayton has been named the MEAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week while
Anthony Tarke and
Nendah Tarke earned Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. This is the second time that the Eagles have swept all three of the conference's weekly awards this season.
A redshirt senior from Bowie, Md., Clayton returned to action after missing six games and lit up Delaware State for a career-high 32 points in Coppin's comeback victory on Monday night. Clayton also buried a career-high 14-of-15 free throws and added five rebounds and six assists. In the second half alone, Clayton recorded 26 points on 10-of-11 free throws.
For the third time this season,
Anthony Tarke is taking home Defensive Player of the Week accolades. In Coppin's victory over the Hornets, Tarke led the Eagles with eight rebounds and also contributed with four blocks and four steals to go with his 14 points.
Nendah Tarke claimed his second Rookie of the Week award after tallying 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists and five steals against Delaware State. Tarke hit 9-of-13 free throws in the win.
The Eagles will look to sweep back-to-back games with the Hornets as they clash once again at PEC Arena on Tuesday, November 5 at approximately 8:00 pm.
