BALTIMORE – Coppin State University head track & field coach
Carl Hicks has announced the addition of
Amadou Ba to the Eagles' track & field roster for the 2020-21 season. Ba is the first new male athlete to officially commit to Coppin track & field for the upcoming season.
"Amadou had a distinguished junior college career as one of the top and most versatile runners in the Country," said Hicks. "He will add to the depth of our middle-distance team and bring experience and veteran leadership while continuing the great tradition of middle-distance running at Coppin State University."
Born in Mauritania, Ba spent the last two seasons at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he was a 10-time All-American on the track across seven different events. During the 2018 outdoor season, his first with the Wave, Ba received All-America accolades in a Nation's best five events (800m, 1500m, 3000m Steeplechase, 4x400m Relay and 4x800m Relay).
Ba also garnered All-America honors in the 400m, 4x100m Relay and 4x800m Relay the following outdoor season while taking home the award in the 800m during the 2019 and 2020 Indoor seasons.
Standing 5-foot-11, Ba ran owns the following personal-record times: 800m (1:53.75); 1500m (4:10.01); 400m (50.02); 3000m Steeplechase (10:26.82).
