NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Humed Nura was named the MEAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday morning. This is the first time that Nura has earned a MEAC weekly award and he's the first CSU male athlete to receive the honor in over a decade.
Last weekend, Nura won the Golden Ram Invitational, hosted by West Chester University, completing the 5K in 15:51 which was nearly 20 seconds ahead of the field. A junior from Baltimore, Md., Nura has a pair of individual titles this season, also winning the UMES Soaring Hawks Invitational on September 20. Nura also took second at the season-opening DSU Invitational on September 12.
Nura's win at Maryland Eastern Shore in late September marked the first time since October 13, 2012, that a CSU men's cross country runner won a meet when
Andre Thomas captured the title at the DSU Hornet Invitational #2.
The Eagles will run at the Bison Invitational, hosted by Howard University, at Kenilworth Park on October 18 – the final tune up before the MEAC Championships on November 1.
