STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Coppin State's
Tatiana Ogundeko shattered her own school-record in the Mile and the women's 4x400m relay took second overall at the Albany Winter Classic on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Sports Complex.
Ogundeko clocked a 5:02.97 in the Mile to take eighth overall in a very competitive field. A senior from Waldorf, Md., Ogundeko's time is the second-fastest in the MEAC this season and broke her old school-record by nearly five seconds.
Ogundeko also ran a leg of the 4x400m relay that took second overall in 3:48.30, the third-fastest time in the MEAC this season. Accompanying Ogundeko on the relay were
Jasmine Henery,
Destinee McLeod and
Claudina Constantine.
Several Eagles impressed in their individual events with top ten performances. Henery took fourth overall and second among college athletes in the 200m dash in 24.84 while
Cathryn Lane placed tenth in 25.37. Lane also doubled up in the 400m dash and took seventh in 58.09, just ahead of McLeod (58.18).
Also on the track, Constantine clocked a 5:25.51 in the Mile and
Janee Quailes finished the 400m dash in 1:02.45.
Alanna Newby led Coppin in field events, taking eighth in the shot put (42' 3.50").
CSU returns to the track on February 14-15 at the VMI Indoor Classic, the final tuneup before the MEAC Championships on February 27-29.
