LEXINGTON, Va. – Coppin State's
Tatiana Ogundeko won the 800m Run and anchored the 4x400m Relay to a second-place finish and one of the fastest times in school-history this weekend at the VMI Indoor Classic.
Ogundeko clocked a 2:12.59 to win the 800m Run before running a 55.68 second split during the 4x400m to help the Eagles to a 3:46.47 time. This mark is the fifth-fastest in school-history and the fastest time run by the Eagles 4x400m Relay indoors since the 2015-16 season. Running prior to Ogundeko in the relay were
Jasmine Henery (57.03),
Destinee McLeod (58.15) and
Claudina Constantine (55.68).
The trio that ran with Ogundeko in the Relay also had great individual performances in their open events. Henery took third in the 400m (56.67) and fourth in the 200m dash (25.07) while Constantine took third in the 800m Run (2:15.31). McLeod finished ninth overall in the 400m dash (58.12), just behind
Cathryn Lane (58.07) who also doubled up in the 200m dash (25.57).
Alanna Newby also tossed the shot put 12.65m (41' 6.0") to finish tenth overall.
CSU wraps up its indoor season at the MEAC Championships on February 27-29 at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, Md.
