BALTIMORE – Behind silver medal performances from
Tatiana Ogundeko and
Alanna Newby, and a bronze from
Aidan Alston, the Coppin State women's track & field team finished fifth at the Morgan State Legacy this weekend.
Ogundeko once again set a personal-record in the 1,500m with a time of 4:38.03, which is now the second-fastest in Coppin school-history, just ahead of Coppin all-time great
Twana Allen and behind
Diana Pitts' 26-year-old record of 4:35.19. Ogundeko also joined
Cathryn Lane,
Janee Quailes and
Ivonna Hoskins in the 4x400m Relay that took fourth in 3:50.56.
The trio, outside of Ogundeko, all ran personal-record times in the 400m with Quailes leading the way in 57.50. Hoskins finished just behind in 57.52 while Lane clocked a 57.82.
In the shot put, Newby tossed the apparatus 41' 3.25" and she also finished fifth in the discus with an effort of 137' 8."
Alston took the bronze in the javelin with a toss of 116' 11" while taking sixth in the pole vault, clearing 10' 0."
After qualifying for the finals in the 100m hurdles,
Randi Bohler just missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in 14.47. She also finished tenth in the long jump (16-5.25).
In the 400m hurdles,
Jasmine Henery clocked a 1:04.21 to finish sixth while
Kristen Deacon tossed the hammer 145' 10" to finish eighth.
Also earning a top ten finish was
Ariyana Larkins in the shot put (38-5).
The Eagles return to the track on April 25-27 at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
