Ogundeko Wins 1,500m and Takes 2nd in 800m at North Carolina A&T Aggie Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Tatiana Ogundeko won the 1,500m Run and took second in the 800m Run, both in personal-record time, to lead the Coppin State women's track & field team at the Aggie Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T on Friday and Saturday afternoons.

A junior from Suitland, Md., Ogundeko ran the 800m on Friday and clocked a 2:09.22, finishing just .61 off the winning time and outkicking runners from Elon and North Carolina A&T at the finish.  The following day, Ogundeko bested 31 other runners to take the 1,500m in 4:40.06, nearly two seconds faster than the closest competitor. Both marks are the third-fastest in school-history.

While Ogundeko led the Eagles on the track, Alanna Newby and Aidan Alston paced CSU in field events. Newby earned the bronze in the shot put with a toss of 40' 7" and also took tenth in the discus (118-2).  Alston had a pair of ten-ten finishes, taking fourth in the javelin (113-11) and eighth in the pole vault (9-7).

Coppin also had solid performances in the sprints despite the rainy conditions.  Janee Quailes led the way with a personal-record 57.86 in the 400m dash while Cathryn Lane also PR'd in the event with a 58.60.  The combo of Lane, Ivonna Hoskins, Erykah Jerome and Jasmine Henery took 8th in the 4x100m Relay in 48.36.

The Eagles return to the track on April 19-20 at the Morgan State Legacy prior to running at the historic Penn Relays on April 25-27 before the MEAC Championships on May 2-4.
