Box Score BALTIMORE – Coppin State's women's tennis team blanked MEAC rival Maryland Eastern Shore, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at Coppin State Tennis Courts. The Eagles now stand at 2-4 overall and even their MEAC record at 1-1.
The duo of
Brittanie Cahua and
Tinashe Gwaze shut out the top UMES doubles pair, 6-0, while
Ajla Hrnjic and
Olivia Wallace won by an identical score at No. 3.
Shariah Dunwell and
Precious Udofe also dominated in the second spot, 6-1.
In singles play, Udofe, Hrnjic and Wallace won their matches at Nos. 4 through 6, respectively, 6-0, 6-0. Cahua and Gwaze also won in straight sets, allowing their opponents in the first and second spots to win just two and three games each. Dunwell took all six games in the first set and went on to win, 7-5 at No. 3 singles.
CSU returns to action on Sunday, March 24 at Mount St. Mary's, beginning at 2 pm.
