Field Performers Pace Women’s Track & Field to 4th Place at HBCU Battle

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Six Eagles earned points in individual events to lead the Coppin State women's track & field team to a fourth place finish at the HBCU Battle Friday night at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory.
 
Most of CSU's points came in the field, paced by Tre'J Johnson and Aidan Alston who each took second in their respective events.  Johnson took silver in the long jump with a leap of 18-5.25, while Alston did the same in the pole vault, cleared 9-0.25.
 
In the weight throw, Kristen Deacon made her return and finished third with a toss of 51-7.  Deacon also took sixth in the shot put (39-7.75), just behind Alanna Newby's fifth place effort (40-2.25).  Newby also had a major personal-record in the eight throw with an effort of 41-10.75.
 
On the track, Tatiana Ogundeko took fifth in the 800m Run (2:23.61) and Cathryn Lane earned a point in the 200m Dash (26.04).
 
To wrap up the night, the 4x400m Relay took third in 3:56.86.
