Women’s Tennis Edged in Non-Conference Tilt at Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Coppin State's women's tennis team earned victories at No. 1 doubles and the top two singles positions but dropped a 5-2 decision at Rider on Saturday afternoon. 

The duo of Brittanie Cahua and Tinashe Gwaze were once again victorious in doubles action, winning 6-4 over the Broncs' top pair.  However, Rider earned the doubles point with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 and 6-1 in the third spot.

Cahua and Gwaze also earned singles victories in straight sets with Cahua edging Rider, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).  Gwaze was more dominant in her victory in the second spot, 6-3, 6-2.

Shariah Dunwell won the second set of her match in the third position, 6-2, but dropped the deciding set, 6-2 as Rider got the pivotal point.

The Eagles will look to get back over .500 on the season as they host MEAC rival Howard on Wednesday, April 4 at 1 pm.
