PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Coppin State's women's tennis team won its second-straight match with a 6-1 MEAC victory at Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles started out with a win at No. 1 doubles as
Brittanie Cahua and
Tinashe Gwaze were victorious, 6-2.
Ajla Hrnjic and
Tanna Nita fell in the second position, 6-2.
Cahua,
Shariah Dunwell, Hrnjic and
Precious Udofe won their singles matches in straight sets in Nos. two through five, respectively. Gwaze was defeated in No. 1 doubles despite winning the first set, 7-5, before falling 6-4, 12-10.
Dunwell dropped just two games in the third singles position while Cahua and Hrnjic faltered in just three games in their respective matches. Udofe won her match, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
CSU was awarded the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles by default.
The Eagles have a few weeks off before hosting La Salle on Thursday, March 29.
