SMYRNA, Del. – The Coppin State men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the 2018 MEAC Championships on Saturday, October 27 at the Delaware State Outreach & Learning Center.  The Women's 5K Race will start at 9:45 am, followed by the Men's 8K Race at 10:30 am.

Prior to the event on Friday, October 26 at 4:30 pm, the MEAC teamed up with Delaware State University to host the fourth annual Power of the PINK Run/Walk on the campus of DSU.  The event supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month and participants will receive a free T-Shirt with a $10 donation.  Participants are also encouraged to sow their support by wearing pink attire.

Coppin's cross country teams have produced mixed results this season with Anija Addison pacing the men's squad while the women's team has a formidable trio up front, led by Tatiana Ogundeko

A junior from Waldorf, Md., Ogundeko is coming off a seventh place performance at the DSU Alumni Run where she finished in 20:56.7.  Freshman Janee Quailes and senior Lunnise Gibson ran together and clocked times of 22:50.6 and 22:55.1, respectively, to finish in 15th and 16th place.  The next two scorers will come from the contingent of MyAsia Mills, Erykah Jerome, Cathryn Lane, Jasmine Henery and Erika Hightower.

Addison has had an up-and-down season thus far with a season-best time of 31:57.8 to finish ninth at the DSU Pre-Conference Run.  Nku Henry and Justin Turner are likely to be the second and third finishers for Coppin followed by the contingent of Tyrek Goy, Jona Hanson, Yonatan Mendoza and Elijah Noel.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Gibson, Hanson, Henery, Hightower and Jerome were named to the MEAC Cross Country All-Academic Team.  To be recognized, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.
