Women's Tennis wins weekend home opener

Baltimore, MD - Coppin State Women's Tennis program continues the weekend of winning for the athletic department after defeating St. Francis College Brooklyn today, 4-3.  Despite cool temperatures, the Lady Eagles started hot with the doubles matches and ultimately one of the key factor for the team win.  Coppin picked up a point after winning two of the three doubles matches and splitting the six single matches 3-3. 

Coppin picked up their doubles point after Shariah Dunwell and Tinashe Gwaze secured a 6-2 doubles win over Isabel Castellanos/ Akyi Lenjor in the #2 slot for doubles while Brittanie Cahua and Precious Udofe would notch a 6-4 win over Runsi Patra/ Andrea Rojo In the #3 doubles matches.  Both teams would battle on the court during singles play.  Out of six matches, Coppin would win the #3, #4, and #5 singles matches with Cahua, Gwaze, and Dunwell over matching their opponents.  It would be Cahua's 6-2, 6-3 win over Patro that would secure the victory for Coppin State.  

The Lady Eagles return to the court Saturday, October 21 where they'll  travel to Monmouth University for a 2pm start.
