LEXINGTON, Ky. – Coppin State saw the men's 4x100 meter relay school record fall on the final day of the NCAA Track & Field East Regional at the University of Kentucky Track & Field Complex in Lexington, Ky. on Saturday, May 27
th.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team of senior
Haysean Cowie-Clarke, freshman
Joseph Amoah, junior
Devin Teagle and freshman
Martin Owusu-Antwi ran a Coppin State men's track and field program record time of 39.83 finishing sixth in their heat and 17
th overall. This quartet is the first ever CSU relay team to break 40-seconds in the 4x100.
Joseph Amoah finished 28
th in the men's 200 meters event running a time of 20.95 seconds placing fifth in his heat on Friday. He concludes his rookie season with the school record time of 20.48 recorded at the Weems Baskin Invitational on March 24, 2017.
Sophomore
Khemani Roberts competed in the women's high jump and placed 33
rd overall measuring at 1.69 meters (5-6 ½ ) also on Friday. Her top mark of the season was 1.73 meters at the MEAC Championships, but her personal best is 1.77 meters recorded at Morgan State Legacy Meet on March 22, 2016.
The women's outdoor team set a new program record in the pole vault by sophomore
Savannah Forte (10-5.5) at the MEAC Outdoor Championships and
Khemani Roberts in the heptathlon (5,038) at the Morgan State Legacy Meet. Freshman
Aidan Alston is second on the records list in both the javelin (124-9) and the pole vault (8-8.25) also at the MEAC Outdoor Championships.
The men's program set five new school records in the 2017 outdoor season.
Joseph Amoah has the 100 meters (10.24) at the MEAC Outdoor Championships and 200 meter (20.48) records. Freshman
Aaron Lewis tied the 110 meter hurdle records with a time of 14.31 at the George Mason Spring Invitational while the 4x100 meter relay team (39.83) at the NCAA East Regionals and 4x200 meter relay teams (1:24.82) at the Penn Relays also ran the top times.
The men's and women's track and field teams at Coppin State University concludes their 2017 outdoor season.
