NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Solomon Hammond has been named the MEAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. This is the first time this outdoor season that Hammond has received the award after also earning it once this past indoor season.
A senior from Ghana, Hammond won the 100m dash at last weekend's Raleigh Relays in a time of 10.21, a mark that leads the MEAC and ranks 11
th nationally. Hammond also finished seventh in the 200m dash in a league-leading time of 20.97 out of lane eight while leading the 4x100m Relay to a fifth-place finish in 40.48.
The Eagles return to the track on April 3-4 for the Dalton Ebanks Invitational, hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
