COLUMBIA, S.C. – Coppin State's
Joseph Amoah recorded the fastest time in the nation in the men's 200 meter dash at the Weems Baskin Invitational on Saturday, March 25
th at the Shelia & Morris Cregger Track hosted by South Carolina University.
Freshman
Joseph Amoah won the men's 200 meter dash with the fastest time in the nation at 20.48 (w). In the men's 400 meter run, Amoah placed tenth out of the pack with a time of 48.19. His time in the 400 meter ranks 8
th in the conference.
Senior
Michael James recorded the second fastest time in the MEAC competing in the men's 800 meter run with a fifth place finish of 1:51.46. Senior
Ronaldo Ball was seventh in the event at 1:53.78 and senior
Alaric Coker placed tenth with a time of 1:55.96. Ball placed seventh in the 1500 meter event with a time of 4:06.14.
Senior
Haysean Cowie-Clarke was sixth in the men's 100 meter dash recording the second fastest time in the conference and 17
th ranked time in the nation at 10.53 seconds.
Coppin State's 4x100 meter relay team of Cowie-Clarke, Amoah,
Aaron Lewis and
Keshaun Hodges placed fourth in their event with a time of 40. 19 seconds. The Eagles time ranks second in the conference and 11
th in the nation.
The Eagles head to the Florida Relays on March 30
th in Gainesville, FL for their next meet.
