Treyes Lands Early Prediction as 2017 D1 Baseball MEAC Freshman of the Year

Freshman pitcher/outfielder Corey Treyes of the Coppin State University baseball team was predicted to be the 2017 Mid-Eastern Athletic Freshman of the Year, announced by D1baseball.com on January 31, 2017.

Treyes is a right handed pitcher/outfielder from West Covina, CA graduating from Norco high School. He earned honors as the 2016 Perfect Game California Region HM, 2016 Norco HS MVP, 2015/2016 All State Nominee, 2015 Big VIII First Team All-League and 2014 Big VIII Second Team All-League.

Seventh year Coppin State head baseball coach, Sherman Reed comments, "Corey came across very confident in his abilities during the recruiting process. While we recruited him as a right handed pitcher, he starred as a two-way player at Norco High School back in California. Once we saw him swing the bat, it became apparent that he could be a very good left-hand hitting outfielder at the Division-1 Level. Hat's off to Corey for taking advantage of the opportunity this fall and accelerating on both ends. The coaching staff has done a really nice job in managing Corey's abilities in a way that maximizes his talents. Corey has a great opportunity to be an immediate impact player in the MEAC if he continues to work hard and stay focus."

The Eagles baseball team opens their 2017 season in Los Angeles, CA on February 17th against Southern California.
