West Long Branch, NJ - The Lady Eagles fell to Monmouth today 6-1. The Lady Eagles lone point came from Brittanie Cahua's win in the number one singles. Cahua also earned a win with
Precious Udofe in number one doubles.
In Cahua's first singles set, she was down 4-3 against Monmouth's Alexandra Graff. Cahua was able to take the momentum and come from behind to take the first set 6-4. In the second set, Cahua took a 2-1 lead, but had to battle Graff from a 2-2. and 3-3 ties. With some well place shots, Cahua was able to jump to a 5-3 lead before she closed out the set and match with an identical 6-4 score.
In their doubles match Udofe and Cahua showed resolve and scrapped back after trailing 2-1 and later 3-2. After tying the set at three, Cahua/ Udofe got a break on a serve and took the lead for the first time 4-3. The two took the lead again 5-4 with Cahua on serve and was able to close out the match 6-4. Monmouth won the double point since their two and three doubles team won their matches.
The Lady Eagles conclude their fall season with a 1-1 record and begin their spring season on Coppin State's Homecoming Day, February 17 at St. Peter's University in New Jersey.
