Joshua Treadwell scored a game high 23 points as three Eagles scored in double figures in Coppin State's 90-80 setback loss to South Carolina State in the quarterfinals of the MEAC Basketball Tournament on Thursday March 10 in Scope Arena in Norfolk, VA.

Treadwell went 8-for-14 from the field, while tying a career best five made 3-point field goals. He added seven rebounds and an assist in 31 minutes of game action.

The Eagles fought back from an early 25-point deficit with 5:30 to play before intermission.

The Bulldogs scored 59 points in the first half on 62.2% shooting from the field.

Coppin State fought back valiantly and outscored South Carolina State in the second half, 37-31 to pull within single digits but ran out of time.Â

Junior guard
Christian Kessee finished with 13 points, a team best four assists and a rebound in 35 minutes on the court.

Keith Shivers tallied 11 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal on a team high 36 minutes of playing time.

Blake Simpson corralled a game high 11 rebound and stuffed a career best four blocks. He chipped in nine points for the Eagles.

Simpson went a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

James Sylvester poured in nine points, six rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes of the bench. Sylvester sunk five of his eight foul shots.

Terry Harris Jr., compiled nine points, five rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in 28 minutes.

Both teams combined for just 15 turnovers, seven for Coppin State and eight for South Carolina State.

Eric Eaves led South Carolina State with 21 points and eight rebounds. Tashombe Riley added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs.

The third seeded Bulldogs will face the second seeded Norfolk State Spartans on Friday March 11 with tipoff at 8:00 p.m. in Scope Arena.

Michael Grant has much to look forward to next senior, losing only one senior in
Lawrence Fejokwu.
