BALTIMORE- The Coppin State baseball team fell to the New York Institute of Technology 14-7 on Sunday February 21. The game was played at Galludet University in Washington, D.C.

Coppin State finished with a season best nine hits.

Junior
Clinton Arnold led the Eagles going 2-for-4, with two hits and driving in two runs in the bottom of the 8th inning.

Senior
Darien Percell drove in a run and scored a run for Coppin State.
Â
The Eagles scored runs in the 4th, 6th and 8th innings.
Â
CSU scored two runs in the 4th.
Bryant Miranda and
George Dragon began the 4th inning off with walks before a single to center field by
Darien Percell advanced the runners. Miranda scored on a passed ball and Dragon scored on a ground out by
Carlos Alviarez.

The Eagles scored one run during in 6th. Miranda scored on a wild pitch.

Coppin State exploded with four runs on four hits in the bottom of the 8th inning with scores from
John Kraft,
Bryant Miranda,
Darien Percell and
Jamar Criss.

Kraft began the inning with a single before stealing second base. Miranda also singled to right field. Percell got on base after an error by the third baseman giving Kraft and unearned run. Arnold O'Dwyer singled to shortstop. Criss was walked before an Arnold double scored Criss. Percell's crossed the plate for an unearned run.

The freshmen pitching trio of
Aaron Rea,
Jahmon Taylor and
Delvin McFadden recorded four of the Eagle's five strikeouts in a combined five innings pitched.

NYIT finished the game with 13 hits and two errors. The Bears scored four runs in the 4th inning pushing the lead to 8-2. They scored six more run in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings and hung on for a 14-7 victory.

Coppin State will return to action Wednesday February 24 when the square of against the United State Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. The game begins at 2:00 p.m. at Max Bishop Stadium.Â
