UNIVERSITY PARK – Coppin State had a pair improve on their current MEAC Indoor Track and Field rankings at the Penn State National Invitational on Friday, January 29
th.
Mark London excelled in the men's 800m event while
Deandra Daniel shined in the women's high jump event.
Three Eagles placed in the top-10 running in the men's 800m competition. Sophomore
Mark London was second overall at 1:50.57 jumping to first place amongst the MEAC. Senior
Alaric Coker was seventh with a time of 1:52.80 while junior Ronaldo Ball was eighth at 1:53.20. Both Coker and Ball improved their rankings on the MEAC Indoor list moving up to fifth and seventh place, respectively.
Junior
Michael James qualified for the MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 400m event with a time of 48.98 seconds placing seventh overall. This was James first time this indoor season running in the 400m event and currently ranks 12
th on the MEAC list.
Coppin State's relay teams also had strong performances in the 4x400m and distance medley events. The 4x400m relay team of senior

Michael James, sophomore
Devon Teagle, and
Alaric Coker finished fourth overall with a season-best time of 3:16.45, ranking sixth amongst the MEAC. The distance medley team of Ronaldo Ball,
Michael James,
Mark London, and
Alaric Coker also placed fourth overall, but recorded the top time in the MEAC.
In the field events
Shane Green moved up to third on the MEAC Indoor Track & Field list with a measure of 15.43m in the triple jump event. Green leaped a season-best measure while placing seventh overall.
For the women, senior
Deandra Daniel and freshmen
Khemani Roberts competed in the high jump event at the Penn State National Invitational. Daniel was fourth overall with a season-best mark of 1.79m. She currently ranks second on the MEAC Indoor list in the high jump competition. Roberts followed with a measure of 1.63m placing 15
th overall.
