BALTIMORE – Coppin State's softball team dropped a 9-1 decision to Drexel Wednesday afternoon at Drexel Field.
Junior second baseman
Danielle Smith accounted for the Eagles (3-18) lone hit and run of the game with a leadoff home run. This was her second leadoff home run of the season, her first came against USC-Upstate Feb. 28.
Smith leads Coppin State with an eight-game hitting streak.
While protecting second base, Smith made a diving catch to snag a line drive.
The Eagles get back to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) competition for their home opener this weekend. Coppin State will host a doubleheader against Delaware State Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. The two teams will also play a single game on Sunday at noon.
