BALTIMORE – Coppin State will say goodbye to six seniors when it concludes its 2014-15 regular season against Delaware State Thursday night at the Physical Education Complex. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Before the Eagles (7-21 overall, 6-9 MEAC) attempt to go for their second straight season sweep over the Hornets (14-16, 8-7), they will recognize
Daquan Brickhouse,
Taariq Cephas,
Dallas Gary,
Arnold Fripp,
Jahvari Josiah and
Sterling Smith prior to the game. All six players were critical factors in the Eagles' 96-92 victory over Delaware State on Feb. 16 in Dover.
Both teams won their last games. Coppin State placed five players in double figures in defeating Morgan State, 88-77. Smith scored 21 points and Cephas added 20 points in the victory.
Dallas Gary tied his career-high 18 points and grabbed a career best nine rebounds.
The Hornets defeated Hampton, 85-75, behind 25 points from Tyshawn Bell and 20 points from Amere May. Kendall Gray had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Kendal Williams scored 18 points for the Hornets, who shot 50 percent against the Pirates. Delaware State, which is second in the MEAC behind Coppin State in 3-pointers made per game, made 13 triples.
There's no sense in trying to outline the playoff scenarios or potential first round opponent for next week's MEAC Tournament at the Norfolk Scope Arena. The MEAC will release the brackets and pairings following the conclusion of Thursday's six conference games.
