ATHENS, Ga. – Coppin State's softball team concluded its time at the Red-and-Black Showcase Tournament with a 13-0 setback to Illinois.

Oashaja Dobie and
Samantha Denlinger shared responsibility on the mound. Dobie allowed the four runs on three hits and a walk before Denlinger took over midway through the first inning. She allowed the final runs of the game on nine hits and four walks.
"We took our lumps this weekend against some very good programs," head coach
Ty Robinson said. "I wanted to bring us here to learn how BCS schools really get after their opponents and to teach our kids how to play at a faster pace. We learned what areas we need to get better in."
The Eagles are back in action on Friday, Feb. 13 in the Aggie Invitational. Coppin will face tournament host North Carolina A&T and St. Francis twice during the three-day event.
