Softball Places Trio of Eagles on All-MEAC Teams

NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State place a trio of Eagles on the All-MEAC Softball Team, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday night.  Outfielder Aniyah Haley was named to the Second Team while catcher Xzylia Maravilla and third baseman Julianna Mejia earned Third Team accolades.
 
A junior from Indianapolis, Ind., Haley received All-Conference honors for the first time after hitting .326 while leading the Eagles with ten doubles, 12 extra-base hits, 12 walks and a .409 on-base percentage.  Haley also scored 20 runs to rank second on Coppin and was third on the team with six steals.  In MEAC play, Haley hit a team-high .354 while also leading the Eagles in runs (18) and doubles (6) from the leadoff spot.
 
Maravilla hit .229 with four doubles, a triple and three home runs while driving in 15 runs.  A junior from Salinas, Calif., Maravilla drew eight walks and stole five bases from the catcher spot. Maravilla led the Eagles with five games with multiple runs batted in.
 
Mejia earned All-Conference honors for the second-straight season, hitting .326 with six doubles, a triple and 14 RBI. A sophomore from Lincoln Heights, Calif., Mejia tied for a team-high 12 walks and led the Eagles with seven sacrifice hits. In MEAC play, Mejia hit .317 with four doubles, a triple and 11 RBI.
