FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Coppin State's women's basketball team will travel to play Colgate on Saturday, March 22 at 6:00 pm in the First Round of the 27
th Annual Postseason WNIT, powered by Triple Crown Sports, it was announced on Monday afternoon.
Colgate received an at-large bid from the Patriot League after going 23-9 on the season and 13-5 in conference play before falling in the conference quarterfinals.
The Raiders are led by a trio of All-Conference performers, including First Tam All-Patriot League selection
Taylor Golembiewski who ranked fourth in the conference with 14.9 points per game. Golembiewski is the third-leading scorer in program history with 1,480 career points.
Morgan McMahon, who is also a 1,000-point career scorer, and
Anne Bair also received Third Team accolades.
This will be the first time that Coppin and Colgate have met on the hardwood, with the winner slated to play Cleveland State in the Second Round (March 23-25). On the other side of the bracket, Duquesne hosts Longwood with the winner taking on Miami (Ohio).
CSU (18-14), led by First Team All-MEAC selections
Laila Lawrence and
Angel Jones, earned its first postseason bid since the 2009 WNIT after recording its most wins since the 2011-12 season. The Eagles won a program-record nine non-conference games with historic victories over Arizona State, George Washington and Kent State.
