NORFOLK, Va. – Khila Morris scored a team-high 14 points while Sydney Burris posted a double-double as Coppin State's women's basketball team fell to #1 Howard, 65-50 in the MEAC Semifinals on Friday afternoon at Scope Arena.  The Eagles finished their season at 10-23 overall while the Bison improved to 25-7.

A senior from Bronx, N.Y., and the MEAC Newcomer of the Year, Morris hit 5-of-12 from the floor with a 3-pointer and 3-of-4 from the line to lead the Navy & Gold.  Morris added three rebounds, an assist and three blocks in her final collegiate game.

Burris added 12 points and ten rebounds, making 5-of-7 from the field and both of her free throws. Also playing in her final collegiate game, Burris had five rebounds on each end of the floor and also blocked a pair of shots.

Coppin also got eight points and nine rebounds from Shanaii Gamble, and they were followed by Erin Henry with six points, five points, six rebounds and four assists from Paris McBride, a three from Mickelle Lowry and a pair of points by Patricia Sosa Lora.

The Eagles outshot Howard, 33.3% to 32.4% and outrebounded the Bison, 46-39, but committed 27 turnovers which led to 23 points for the Regular Season Champions.

Howard scored on its opening possession of the game, which was matched by Morris at the other end, but Howard opened up a 15-6 lead before Sosa Lora made a layup with just under a minute left in the first.  The Bison continued to pull away, leading by as many as 56-32 late in the third before McBride closed the quarter with two free throws.

CSU outscored Howard, 16-9, in the fourth but got no closer than the 15-point final margin.
